Chancellor Rachel Reeves has delivered her Autumn budget, announcing tax rises to fund public spending priorities while keeping borrowing under control. The NHS is a major beneficiary, with billions allocated to cut waiting lists, expand diagnostic services, and invest in technology and workforce pay.
However, experts caution that tax revenues alone may not be enough to fully resolve the challenges facing the NHS including workforce shortages, rising costs, and social care gaps. The social care sector has also responded to highlight the lack of commitment to longer term funding in this budget.
Tim Davies, CEO Compass CHC comments:
“Both the NHS and social care sector are already stretched. Without any significant change to funding it’s vital for individuals with complex care needs to secure their entitlement to continuing healthcare funding. Our mission remains to raise awareness of NHS Continuing Healthcare and to help more families secure the funding they’re entitled to.”
